    National Pizza Month Norwalk

    October 13, 2015

    Serving a slice of pizza

    We love pie.

No, we’re not talking about the apple-filled cinnamon-y kind (although we have a special place in our hearts for it). We’re talking about that perfect round flat dough topped with cheesy goodness, spicy rounds of pepperoni, and whatever else we fancy on a given night.

Thankfully, someone thought to dedicate the entire month of October to this culinary delight--so of course a post about where you can find delicious pizza in Norwalk was in order. Read on and share your favorites in the Facebook comments!

4th Place: Fat Cat Pie Co

(9-11 Wall Street, Norwalk, CT 06850)

Fat Cat Pie Co gets plenty of attention for their couscous kale salad, but we’re all about their highly customizable pizzas. They have a crunchy thin crust that allows toppings to shine. Try adding sweet caramelized onions to bacon and add spices of your choice--but really, you can’t go wrong with your favorite ingredients. Customize to your heart’s content.

    3rd Place: East Avenue Pizza

(84 Fort Point St, Norwalk, CT 06855)

Forget debates about Chicago vs. NY. pizza. Let’s try going Greek! East Avenue Pizza transcends the pizza madness with an Old World Greek recipe that’s out of this world. The shop has been family owned and operated by the Stefanatos family since 1987, and pizzas here have been described as having the perfect thick yet crispy crust, flavorful sauce, tons of cheese, and a distinct Greek flair that sets it apart from the usual Italian pizza. It’s a must-try.

    2nd Place: Uncle’s Pizza

(51 Stevens St, Norwalk, CT 06850)

Pizza purists and adventurous eaters alike will love Uncle’s Pizza. If you’re of the latter kind, Hawaiian pizza with bacon is a must. (Fair warning: the sweet + salty + cheesy combination is addictive.) BBQ Chicken pizza also gets points for freshness and the perfect amount of sauce. The best part? You get to choose the style of crust--whether you prefer classic hand tossed or a super thin crust. Couple that with free delivery, and this place is an all-around pizza shop to be reckoned with.

1st Place: Valentino’s Cucina Italian Restaurant

(195 Liberty Square, Norwalk, CT 06855)

Of course we had to add a true Italian joint to the list. Valentino’s Cucina Italian Restaurant has been owned by The Promuto family (yes, they’re Italian) since the summer of 2011, and ever since, they’ve been serving up incredible wood-fired pizza with two different crust styles. It’s hard to nail down what sets this pizza apart from the rest of the pack--maybe it’s the slightly wood-fired smoke taste. Or the gorgeous simplicity of the Margherita, with fresh Roma tomatoes, basil, and mozzarella. One bite, and you’ll be transported to the streets of Rome.
