Norwalk Beaches - The Waypointe Apts

Norwalk residents, the weather’s been in the 80s - and as comfortable as your luxury apartment is, sometimes you just need to spend a day near the Atlantic Ocean.

Now, we all know the beach is a big deal to natives and tourists alike. Meaning - the crowds can get intense. Believe it or not, you can still have a great time in the high beach season! Here are what we think are the two best Norwalk Beaches for residents. And the best part? If you’re a Norwalk resident, you won’t have to pay for parking or permits.

Get Active at Calf Pasture Beach

Ask any Norwalk resident to point you in the direction of the beach, and they’ll likely give you directions to Calf Pasture Beach. This one’s the most popular for a reason!
You don’t just have to lie there on the sand - get up and pick up a game of baseball/softball, basketball, or a run down the coastline. Special events are plentiful, so check out the schedule for the summer concert series, and keep your eyes peeled around town for event fliers. (We Norwalkians aren’t opposed to old-school ways of spreading the word.) Getting hungry? Head to their on-site pavilion where you can get margs with salt, raw oysters, burgers, or fries, amongst other options.

    Chill Out at Shady Beach

Shady Beach is a great little spot that’s slightly more relaxed than Calf Pasture. You won’t have to worry about beach volleyballs hitting you in the face as soon as you close your eyes, either. Bring along some headphones and jam out to your favorite music while you soak up the sun (don’t forget SPF)! Few things are more relaxing.
Is your noisy stomach putting a cramp on your beach day? Sit down for a nice meal at Sunset Grille Restaurant - the scallops are to-die-for in this classic New England seafood joint. Got an early start for the beach? Head to the Cove Deli and Cafe for an egg on a roll or satisfying breakfast burrito.
Both beaches are close to two solid restaurants. (If you want more options, you’ll need to walk a little over a mile. You and your stomach can decide!)
